About me
At times, life can feel overwhelming or difficult to make sense of. Talking to a therapist in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space can help you to process difficult feelings, gain a clearer understanding of yourself, and begin to find a way forward.
I understand that coming to counselling may feel uncertain. I offer a warm, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable talking about whatever is troubling you, knowing it will be met with care, sensitivity and respect.
Our life experiences are unique to us, and we each deserve to be listened to and understood with empathy and compassion. It can be easy to minimise our own feelings, but if something matters to you, it’s important.
You might be struggling with day-to-day life, missing a loved one, feeling anxious or lonely, or perhaps feeling stuck or confused and wanting to understand yourself more deeply. Whatever brings you, we can explore it together.
You can choose to work with me in person in my counselling room in Newport, or online.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a qualified person-centred therapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
As well as my private practice I volunteer at Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight offering bereavement and pre-bereavement counselling to the families and friends of loved ones.
I am committed to working in accordance with the values and principles of good practice set out in the BACP Ethical Framework, and I hold Professional Liability Insurance and am fully DBS checked.
I regularly review and update my practice with additional training to deepen my understanding and support my work with a range of client experiences, and I attend regular clinical supervision to ensure that I practise in your best interest.
Training:
- BA (Hons) Degree in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, City College Southampton
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
