About me

As a counsellor I believe in and have personal experience of the power of an open, honest, warm and safe space to talk and be heard.

It can be easy to believe that the problems and challenges we face in our lives and the emotions that they create such as anxiety depression, grief, uncertainty or anger are feelings that we simply learn to live with, affecting our everyday lives  We can often feel confused and uncertain about these thoughts and feelings; reaching out for support can be daunting but is the first step on a journey of self understanding and is a sign of inner strength, the ability to know when we need support.

Every client has an individual story and I will work with you in a collaborative manner to provide a supportive, non judgemental environment that allows you to be open and honest about the difficulties you face. Together we will create a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and to grow in self belief and understanding. This growing knowledge can support you to make different choices allowing you to move forward with your life at a pace and in a manner that is right for you.

Counselling can be a chance to talk and explore your thoughts, but can also empower you to change unhelpful thoughts or behaviour patterns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
