About me
If you're searching for a therapist you may have been struggling for some time — perhaps you know what’s causing your difficulties or maybe your feelings are hard to understand. Thinking together with a trained therapist can help you consider things from a new perspective, growing your self-awareness, and helping to bring change to your life.
I will listen to whatever you need to talk about without judgment. Meeting weekly lets us progress at a speed of your choosing and gives me a snapshot of your life, week to week, helping us understand the issues you face. As we work together we can reflect and collaboratively build a picture of how your emotional self relates to your life, your relationships, and wider society.
I work from a Psychodynamic perspective which means I am interested in exploring unconscious patterns that emerge in your day-to-day life, as well as with me in the therapy room, and thinking how they may relate to your early life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my qualifications are:
- MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling, UCL Birkbeck
- BA English Literature, Aberystwyth University
Experience
I have worked with many clients suffering from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, sleep problems, loneliness, and relationship difficulties. My clients have come from diverse backgrounds but I have particular experience working with people from the LGBTQ community, including those struggling with their relationship to the chemsex scene.
In addition to my private practice, I work to support people under the care of the NHS community mental health team and am experienced in supporting those caring for loved ones with psychiatric conditions.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer a free 20 minute call to introduce ourselves and your reason for seeking therapy. We can then arrange an initial introductory session where I can gain a fuller understanding of what brings you to therapy.
If you feel we'd be a good fit we can then start weekly sessions at my practice in Waterloo.
