About me
Sometimes life gets heavy in a way that’s hard to explain. You might be coping on the outside while feeling stretched thin on the inside. Perhaps you’re grieving, living with ongoing pain or illness, caught in a cycle of stress and comfort eating, or simply tired of feeling anxious and not quite like yourself.
I offer a calm, unhurried space where you can talk honestly, without judgement and without needing to have it all figured out. Together we’ll work at your pace to make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward that actually fits your life.
I’m a pluralistic counsellor, which means I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw on different ways of working depending on what’s most helpful for you, and we decide together what that looks like.
I work with:
- Bereavement and loss
- Living with chronic illness and persistent pain
- Stress, overwhelm and burnout
- Anxiety
- Emotional and comfort eating
- Low confidence and self-worth
My background is in nursing and education, so I understand how physical health, emotional wellbeing and everyday pressures are often tangled together. I also offer hypnotherapy for people who’d like to combine talking therapy with a more relaxing, body-focused approach.
Sessions are available online (wherever you are), by telephone, or face to face at The Space to Be in Monmouth.
If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free 30-minute chat. There’s no pressure and no commitment, just a chance to see how it feels to talk.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice
- Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory
- Level 3 Diploma in Hypnotherapy & Counselling Skills
- Life Coaching Diploma (CMA-accredited)
- Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.)
Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a Registered General Nurse, then spent many years in education supporting children with special educational needs and providing pastoral care. This gave me a deep understanding of how stress, illness and life changes affect the whole person, not just the mind.
I completed my counselling placement at St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing, supporting people through bereavement and loss, and continued to volunteer there after qualifying.
I’m committed to ongoing professional development and work within the NCPS Code of Ethics, with regular clinical supervision.
