About me
Based at Lochaber Complementary Health Clinic in Fort William, I offer a professional and confidential Counselling service. The therapeutic model which I work with is Person-Centred, sometimes also known as Client-Centred or Rogerian. I work in a supportive non-judgemental manner to help clients explore issues and difficulties, and support clients in making desired changes in order to improve emotional or mental well being.
Some clients enter counselling wanting to deal with a very specific issue and for others the issues are complex and intertwined. Sometimes the difficulties are recent or have been triggered by a recent event, but often the difficulty may have arisen a long time ago. What I have found unites all clients is that the issues they want to explore are having a detrimental effect on being able to fully enjoy life in the present, and that the client entering counselling wants to change something, or lots of things in their life. I have experience both of short term and long term work.
As well as daytime appointments, I can also offer some evening or weekend appointments if required. Online virtual appointments are also available using Zoom, Teams etc
Appointments can be made by contacting Lochaber Complementary Health Clinic on 01397 703711. Alternatively, for general enquiries or if you wish to contact me direct please either drop an email or call or text on 07780 546191.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 20 years experience offering Counselling support in Lochaber. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Strathclyde and am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My work complies with the BACP code of Ethics & Practice, I hold appropriate insurances and am fully committed to ongoing training and learning.
Particular areas of training and experience include Bereavement & Death, Domestic Abuse, Relationship Issues, Gender, Sexual & Relationship diversity (GSRD), Miscarriage & Stillbirth, Self Harm and Suicide. I am also able to work in the various areas noted in the paragraph below but please be assured that if we meet and it appears to me that your needs are outwith my competence or training, I have an obligation under the BACP ethical code to discuss where you may get more appropriate support.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
