About me
Hi,
My name is Alison and I am a CBT & holistic psychotherapist based in Shrewsbury in Shropshire. I am originally from Ireland, and moved to the UK in 2021 shortly after I graduated from my masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have been working in mental health since 2008, working in various sectors until I found my passion in Counselling & Psychotherapy.
My therapist style is transparent, empathic and collaborative. My clients are the experts, my role is to help them to identify blind spots that they may have developed along the way, or patterns of unhelpful or negative thinking. I use many different skills in my work, often drawing from other modalities like DBT.
I help clients with relationship issues, emotional issues and low mood, ADHD, and anxiety.
Training, qualifications & experience
2010-2014- Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Social Studies, received from Carlow Institute of Technology, Ireland.
2019-2021 Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, received from Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences (ICHAS), Griffith College, Dublin Ireland.
As part of my ongoing CPD, I also regularly attend CBT events and have received a number of diplomas in CBT.
