About me

Who I work with

I work with adults who look fine on the outside but are running empty on the inside. People who've spent so long managing everyone else's feelings that they've lost track of their own. Who say yes when they mean no, avoid conflict, and wonder how they became someone they no longer recognise.

You apologise for things that aren't your fault. You say yes when you mean no. You rehearse conversations for days, then avoid them entirely. You're the reliable one at work, the easy-going one in relationships. Underneath the “I'm fine”, you're anxious, resentful, and empty. You’ve spent so long being what everyone needs that you don't know what you want anymore. You've lost yourself somewhere in all the performing. You know something needs to change. You're tired of managing everyone else’s feelings whilst yours gets buried. Tired of the guilt every time you think about saying no. Tired of not recognising the person you've become

How Counselling Can Help

You learned that managing other peoples emotions protected you from conflict, rejection, being “too much”. It worked until it didn't and now you're exhausted, wondering how care for others became self-abandonment. That's where we start. Making sense of it, then changing it.

You'll understand why you've been living like this. More importantly, you'll know how to stop. The guilt after saying no will ease. The constant rehearsal before difficult conversations will quieten The exhaustion of managing everyone's emotions will lift. You'll start recognising yourself again.

Next Steps

I know reaching out is hard especially when you spent so long putting everyone else first. Asking for help probably feel selfish, or like you should be able to handle this alone. That hesitation makes sense. And you're here anyway. I offer therapy on Mondays and some evenings.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm trained in Person-Centred Therapy with a Masters in Psychological Wellbeing in Clinical Practice. I use Low Intensity CBT where appropriate. I have experience of anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties rooted in people pleasing and over functioning.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Ongoing therapy is £40 per session (50 minutes).

I offer single-session therapy / one-off sessions at £60 (45 minutes).

Sometimes you need support now rather than a long-term commitment. Single Sessions are 45 minutes, focused on what feels urgent or confusing at present. We won't solve everything is one go, but we can untangle a specific problem, gain clarity on what's happening, or work out practical next steps.

Please refer to the "Services" page on my website for more information (as bookings slightly differ for a single-session therapy).
