About me

I provide professional counselling for individuals and couples in English and Spanish in East Sheen.

Over my long years practising in the field of counselling and psychotherapy I have come to fully understand the value of truly listening as well as the power of feeling deeply understood. This is my most precious tool and the one that I treasure the most above any theory or school of thought.

My AIM is to provide a calm, reflective and non-judgemental space so you can have the chance to slowly process painful memories or conflicting thoughts and  feelings. This will happen over time, as the experience of being fully heard will translate into you being more self-aware, and more in tune with your self. Eventually as you manage to shift the perspective of yourself and your problems you will feel empowered to deal with your conflicts, symptoms or any challenge you need to face up to.

The OUTCOME is gaining greater insight and self-knowledge, which is the main focus of the therapy. Whether you suffer from crippling mental health problems, or you are just struggling with more benign life struggles, such as relationship issues, or conflict of any sort; most people find that the symptoms or problems they wanted help with in the first place, loose their power over time. In other words, a shift has taken place.

You probably feel confused and bewildered by the vast amount of professionals available. Choosing the right counsellor is the most important task you have right now. You don't need to rush your decision, you can come along and take your time before you make your mind up.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am BACP accredited, which is a guarantee of a high level of competence and professional and ethical standards. I am also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society.

After obtaining a degree in Psychology in Spain, I trained in the NHS in psychodynamic psychotherapy while working as an Honorary Psychotherapist for four years. I was subsequently employed by the NHS as an Adult Psychotherapist for over 15 years.

I have since expanded my knowledge in the fields of EMDR, CBT and I have trained with RELATE to work with couples. I have now a wider understanding and more eclectic approach in my current private practice.

I am experienced in both brief and long term therapy. I have long years of experience in the field of Mental Health and I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. We will have a chance to discuss tailoring this therapy to your personal needs on our first meeting.

I am curently working with children in a school for Place2be in order to obtain greater understanding in this field.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work with the individual rather than the symptom or problem. The same problem or symptom can have many different meanings for different individuals. This therapy is tailored to your needs, to help you take control of your life at your own pace.

I apply the same principle to working with COUPLES; I provide a safe and containing space where problems can be addressed and processed with no blame. I aim to work in a collaborative and supportive way, empowering the couple to take control of their relationship.
