Supervision details
Hello, I'm Louise Whitnall, a psychodynamic and relational supervisor with over 20 years of experience providing supervision to therapists and helping professionals. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative and supportive, creating a space where practitioners can reflect on their clinical work, develop their understanding, and grow in confidence.
Although my core training is psychodynamic, I have trained across a number of therapeutic modalities and have extensive experience working with a wide range of client presentations and complex clinical issues. I welcome supervisees from different therapeutic backgrounds and levels of experience.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a family consultant and therapist across a variety of television platforms and organisations. Over the years I have provided consultation and therapeutic support to professionals and organisations including solicitors, divorce lawyers, insurance companies, GPs, psychiatrists and corporate clients. This breadth of experience enables me to bring a practical, informed and reflective perspective to supervision.
My supervision is grounded within the BACP Ethical Framework and offers a space to think deeply about client work, professional development, ethical practice and the therapeutic relationship. Whether you are newly qualified, experienced in practice, or working with particularly challenging clinical material, I aim to provide supervision that is both containing and stimulating.
I am happy to discuss your supervision needs and answer any questions you may have.
Supervision fee: £80 per session

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
