My training is rooted in the person-centred approach, however I enjoy learning from supervisees with their own theoretical and personal philosophies.

I believe you already have an abundance of knowledge and experience whether as a supervisor, counsellor or trainee so I see my way of working is more collaborative to support you as you develop personally and professionally.

I find the more I know, the less I know, the more experienced I become the more I have to learn. So I enjoy learning.

"......I am comfortable and at ease with you to talk about anything, I like your unconventional way for example working with body sensations.

I find it helpful how you pick up on positive ways I have been in the room with clients  when I have my doubts, and it helps me to go back into the room and be more at ease with the way I am.

'I' am more available with clients, it seems the more real I am in the session the more happens for the client...they are precious moments.

It isn't your knowledge but it's your willingness, letting go....'being you' and allowing me to 'be me'. "       (L.H)

"It has been good to work with you and I have gained a greater degree of self-awareness and understanding. I really appreciate the way in which you gently challenge me to seek a greater degree of understanding of my own self, the choices I make and how this fits with my patterns of relating and ways of being. I am increasingly aware of the changes taking place within me as a result of our sessions together. Thank you."   (L.B)

"Penny is most interesting because she strives to be in touch with her own experiencing in her work with with clients and supervision. She understands that congruence is the cornerstone of person-centred practice and has a clear understanding of the theory upon which her practise is based.  Penny is highly professional in her practice, remaining strong in the face of difficulties and challenges; sharing what is appropriate for her clients and maintaining clear boundaries. As a supervisor Penny  creates a therapeutic climate in which other practitioners find the support and challenge that they need and will be enabled to grow and thrive."  (D.S)
