Supervision details
My training is informed by psychoanalytic psychotherapy and I work within a framework that is non - directive psychodynamic . This means that in the supervisor/ supervisee relationship , it’s the therapeutic relationship both in the supervision and the material and relationships in the work that is key . I’ve many years experience supervising Art Therapists in schools and hospitals as well as counsellors and therapists in private practice . I believe strongly in giving positive and encouraging feedback as much as is appropriate in the work . Therapy work can leave the therapist drained , undermined and feeling inadequate so , by helping them understand that these feelings are mostly triggered by the client/patients projective identification . This is the process where the client is able to transfer their feelings into the therapist . I’m trying to help the supervisee understand what is going on in the therapy , it can restore the therapists confidence and commitment to the work . Supervision should always be supportive .
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
