About me
Dan Trevor BACP Senior Accredited Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
MSc (MBA), DBT and Certified Online Therapist & P. G. Diploma in Clinical Supervision.
This is a baseline from which we can potentially negotiate a contract for ‘supervision’. Supervision is the most commonly used term for Reflective practice. Reflective practice is the ability to reflect on one's actions, paying critical attention to the practical values and theories which inform practice, by examining practice reflectively and reflexively.
This document is designed to let you know how I work as a supervisor, as well as to ensure you understand the parameters of our potential professional relationship. Although providing this information is part of an ethical obligation to my profession, more importantly, it is part of my commitment to you as part of your supervision experience. Once you have read this please let me know if there is anything that doesn’t make sense or you are not comfortable with. Please know that our relationship would be a collaborative one and I welcome any questions, comments or suggestions at any time.
Background
I am a psychotherapist and supervisor working as a clinical lead for a Young Persons’ Counselling Service. In the past I have worked with a Drug and Alcohol Agency in the Young Persons Substance Misuse Service (and have worked with adult clients). I have worked at a Therapeutic Residential Community for Young People.
As a supervisor, I offer individual and group supervision to counsellors/therapists/creative therapists/mental health practitioners who work with children, adolescents, adults and families. I am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor.
I am a qualified Online Therapist and Digital Supervisor having trained with the Academy for Online Training Counselling and Psychotherapy and hold ACTO Level 3 Senior Professional Membership.
Specialisms and Theoretical Orientation: My supervisory specialism is working with clients who may be at risk of self-harm or suicide. My theoretical orientation is an integration of Relational Transactional Analysis / psychodynamic theory and Mindfulness informs my work by bringing curiosity and a willingness to be fully present to whatever arises and invite curious awareness of the present moment. I have also undertaken training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and EMDR.
Primary purpose of the supervision
To ensure the well-being of clients and your professional development and identity as a practitioner.
The supervision will provide a regular space for reflection on the content and process of clinical work in order to understand and develop skills, enhance therapeutic effectiveness, monitor and support clinical practice, consider different perspectives and to explore transference and counter-transference issues as they arise in the work and within the supervision relationship.
I offer an initial no-obligation, no-charge session to explore whether my supervision might benefit you.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
