Supervision details

The supervision I offer is based on the Seven Eyed Model of Supervision, first created by Peter Hawkins in 1988 and developed over 35 years.

My approach to supervision is relational and collaborative.  I trust your training, knowledge and practice. I also appreciate that as new therapists we don't always know what we don't know.  I work with therapists that work using a range of modalities and approaches. My aim is to support you and nurture your confidence and individual therapeutic style, so that you feel effective and successful as you develop as a therapist.

The Seven Eyed Model of Supervision

  1. Focusing on your clients and what and how they present
  2. Exploring the strategies and interventions you use with your clients
  3. Focusing on the relationship between your client and yourself
  4. Focusing on you - your needs, concerns and successes
  5. Focusing on the supervisory relationship - by regularly reviewing our work together.
  6. The supervisor focusing on their own experience - sharing what is happening for me in the supervisor relationship may help you with your client work.
  7. Focusing on the wider context in which your work happens

To get the best out of supervision it is important that the models are integrated into the supervisory process.

I have worked within a range of organisations such as a mental health charity, schools and colleges, local authorities and the NHS as well as in private practice.

If you would like to find out more about how I work as a supervisor please feel free to book in for a free 30 min. Initial Consultation either in person or online via zoom. I look forward to hearing from you.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
