Supervision details

Finding the right Supervisor is as important as finding the right Counsellor in order for you to feel respected and supported to enable you to practise legally, ethically and safety with your clients. I encourage you to decide how you want to use your time in supervision as well as how I can best support you. Clinical supervision requires openness and mutual respect. I endeavour to offer you the right balance of support and challenge for your developmental needs.

Supervision Sessions

During Supervision we will work together to reflect in depth on any issues affecting your practice. We will work within a framework and focus proposed by you for each session and to work to your agenda with what you choose to bring to the session. We will monitor your self-care and fitness to practise to help you sustain the personal resourcefulness required to undertake counselling work. I will support and encourage your ongoing training and development needs. We will adhere to the BACP (2018) Ethical Framework for Counselling Professionals and your professional body's Ethical Framework and we will embrace equality and diversity.

Supervision for Trainee Counsellors

For Trainee Counsellors, I will nurture your transition to working in Professional Practice to help you gain confidence, develop your own ways of working and link theory to practice. I will discuss your requirements for your supervision reports and help you to achieve the required criteria.

My experience as a Counsellor

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and have worked in the Northamptonshire area for over 9 years in Further Education, the public/charitable sector and now in Private Practice. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, abuse, loss, bereavement, low self esteem, bullying, anger, suicidal ideation, autism, personality disorders, attachment, relationship issues, underlying issues of addiction and eating disorders. I work with individuals and couples/groups.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
