Supervision details
I am an accredited Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the NCPS. Having trained as a mental health nurse in 1993 then undertaking the CBT in 1994 and subsequently training as a counsellor 2016 and the finally completing the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy in 2023.
I currently work in private practice having worked in the NHS as a mental health nurse and psychotherapist in the past. I mostly work with people who trauma, eating disorder, depression and anxiety, relational difficulties.
I also provide supervision at a local not-for-profit counselling service.
As an integrative therapist I use a range of modalities, TA, CBT, EMDR and embodiment approaches with my clients and this influences my supervision practice. Although, I supervise practitioners whose primary modality is person centred. When working with a client depending on the issues that present because my belief is every client is unique, so I adapt my approach to the individual.
Clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapist is an essential requirement of practicing as an ethical practitioner and a method of maintaining a high standard of professional practice. My supervision style is influenced by the ethical framework to the BACP, NCPS and UKATA.
Having recently completed the Diploma in Supervision (2023) I consider that my knowledge of supervision is based on contemporary practice using the Seven Eyed Model; putting you and your clients in the focus of working on the relationships between you, your clients and the relationship between you as the therapist and the client and the you as a therapist and myself. We will take into consideration the things happening between each relationship. Plus, the wider system for your client and their needs.
Having a safe space to process you experiences of being with clients and reflecting on what they have told us, how they have made us think, feel and behave. My aim is to provide you with a non-judgmental, welcoming environment, where you will be encouraged to be open, hopefully building a trusting supervisory relationship based on mutual respect. I would like supervision which is restorative for the supervisee.
I’ve always used supervision as an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge so we can move into working in areas of counselling/psychotherapy we are not so familiar. So, this if this what you are looking for from your supervisor, along with some gentle challenge I can certainly provide this. Along with exam preparation or study or skills to develop your private practice.
I charge £65 per I hr supervision session.
