Supervision details
Integrative supervisor influenced by Gestalt, relational theory and the mind/body connection. In person sessions in York or online available.
My approach to supervision is relational and developmental based on the Seven Eye Model. I create a space where supervisees feel safe to explore their clients and themselves as well as how this will go on to inform their client work
I am currently completing my Diploma in Supervision with Scarborough Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Institute (UKCP accredited) with the aim of qualifying by the end of 2025. I am a member of BACP.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of York St John and work from an humanistic integrative approach. I believe that the client is at the heart of the work we do. Lived experience and training has developed my practise and I am influenced by Gestalt as well as being interested in the relational dynamics of what goes on in therapy (and in supervision). I am interested in the latest neuroscience research and Polyvagal theory and how we can help support ourselves and our clients understand their trauma and how the body keeps the score. I have a particular interest in how we can help regulate our nervous systems to help access therapy, as well as the role childhood emotional neglect can have on us as an adult.
Supervision is a feature of the training, accreditation, and ongoing development of counsellors, psychotherapists and therapeutic practitioners. It helps us to understand the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of our work as well as helping us to reflect upon our practice and to explore ethical issues or dilemmas. For me it is also a space where we can learn, explore, reflect and give space to what may inform. I approach supervision from a position of compassionate curiosity.
As part of my training, I am offering supervision at a reduced rate of £25 per hour. Supervision can take place online through zoom or in person at my rooms in the centre of York (just off Bishopthorpe Road).
As per my course requirement and ethical best practise I am receiving supervision specifically for my supervision with a BACP and UKCP registered supervisor.
I welcome working with trainees but as I am myself in training please check with your training provider if this meets the requirements of your course.
For more information please call me on 07764 528138 or email Claire@yorkcp.org
I offer an initial 30 minute telephone call free of charge to explore how it maybe for us to work together.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
