Supervisor Tracy Derbyshire
I am an experience supervisor and I hold a Certificate in Counselling Supervision.
I offer supervision for Integrative, Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural counsellors. I enjoy working both with counsellors in training as they embark on their counselling placements and experienced counsellors looking to be supported and challenged in their practice. I currently work with supervisees who work in Sexual Abuse and private practice.
My fees are £40 per hour (discounts available for counsellors in training) and I offer either one to one or group supervision, which can take place within an organisational setting, with in my home or at a supervisee’s home.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss working with me as your supervisor.
How I work
I am a qualified and experienced Counselling Supervisor since September 2014. My practice is integrative and influenced by the work of the seven eyed model (Hawkins and Shohet) I use the model of supervision that allows the individual to be in an environment that is conducive to growth, that you are practising safely, ethically and professionally with your clients.
I monitor the supervisee’s strengths and developmental needs. My supervision style will vary according to your needs, I'm empathic but also challenging which will empower the supervisee to explore challenges within counselling enabling a supervisee to explore
techniques/strategies to overcome difficulties within counselling, equally I will explore with supervisee’s when they feel counselling is going well as it is important not only to recognise what is working well but the reasons for this, I will also explore any effect counselling can have on the supervisee to ensure that you and your clients are safe and that you look after your own emotional and mental well-being thus reducing the risk of vicarious trauma. One of the keys to successful supervision is honesty - I expect you to be honest with me about what happens both in the counselling room with your client, and outside the counselling room when your personal life impacts on you. In return I will give you honest, supportive feedback, and facilitate your development as an ethical, safe, successful counsellor. I believe this model provides a pathway designed to improve the ability to select what is best suited to the client and their presenting issues, using diverse strategies without being hindered by theoretical differences and enhancing the client work using other models when required Student counsellors will receive support and guidance to complete their placement hours and relevant reports.
Supervision sessions last for one and a half hours in line with BACP guidelines.
