Jane Edwards MBACP (Accred) Dip Couns., MSc Couns
One of my passions is supervising counsellors who work with clients who are marginalised. I have many years experience of working with clients who are marginalised in many ways, have used substances and have experienced trauma. I have also supervised many counsellors who work clients who use substances, are suicidal, have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse, chronic anxiety, depression and with prisoners. This has included many years supporting counsellors dealing with child and adult protection issues with clients.
I have much experience of working with students having tutored on a counselling diploma course for seven years and supervised students within a counselling agency for clients who use substances for many years.
How I work
I hold a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Supervision (2012). I offer two forms of supervision including integrative supervision based on the Hawkins and Shohet’s (1989) process model combining experience of person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT, and person centred supervision to practitioners who prefer to use this model exclusively.
My aim is to create a safe place where supervisees can be supported to grow and develop in their personal and professional development so that they and their clients may benefit. Forming a relationship with supervisees where they can reflect honestly and deeply on their practice is foundational to this process. I am passionate about self-care and promote the self-care of supervisees.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have over the phone, or in an initial meeting, to help you decide whether you would like to work with me in supervision before committing to a regular supervision arrangement.
