Supervision details
Providing clinical supervision is a very interesting, enjoyable and rewarding part of my work. Supervision holds such an important place in our practise as it is the place where we should be able to share 'not knowing' and confusion in our work and therapeutic relationships. It is also a place to rekindle our curiosity and thirst for different perspectives and ideas, in order to benefit our work with clients and also our own development.
Regardless of our professional backgrounds and therapeutic orientations, I focus on listening well, with empathy and curiosity. I like hearing the thoughts and thinking of my supervisees on their work, and having opportunities to explore helpful alternative perspectives. I also keep a mind on exploring what is brought to supervision, why and what might help make the issues be experienced differently by the supervisee after the session.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
