Supervisor Sue Steging PG Dip Couns, M.Med Sci Psychotherapy, MBACP (Sen Accred)
I see supervision first and foremost as offering a supportive environment for the discussion of client work. It is also a place for personal learning. Identifying existing and emerging development goals, the ways progress is facilitated or blocked and the best way of giving mutual feedback are important aspects of the contract for supervision and are acknowledged as regular items for discussion by both parties.
I have trained in Person Centred and other humanistic ways of working and in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. With experience of offering and long term and short term contracts in a number of modalities my approach is broadly integrative and with the overall objective of helping the supervisee to develop and maintain a reliable internal supervisior.
My experience includes supervision in groups and in organisational contexts and I consider that the wider context in which the work happens should be taken into account when discussing individual clients. In addition, have many years of teaching counselling and psychotherapy at certificate and Masters level.
I am accredited as a clinical supervisor with the Irish Council of Psychotherapy
