Supervision details
Hi
Have you had a bad experience of supervision? Most of us have but it should mean that you know better what you need from it.
As supervision is a requirement it needs to work for you, help to develop you as a counsellor, and be something you look forward to rather than dread.
As a counsellor I want my supervisor to be encouraging, supportive, able to offer insights and suggestions to improve my knowledge & skills, and to challenge me gently if necessary.
I have a wealth of experience both in counselling & in my life & I offer the same core conditions to you in supervision as I would my clients.
I was trained as a psychodynamic counsellor but would call myself an integrative practitioner because I am able to call on a range of theoretical models if it would be helpful to your particular client, including TA & CBT.
My favoured model of supervision is the 7 eyed approach of Hawkins & Shohet as I think it covers every mode that is required between a supervisor & supervisee.
If you would like to try an initial session of an hour with me - on zoom or face to face - please email me to arrange a time that suits us both. If you choose to continue we can work on our contract together.
I am a registered & accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethical practice
As a counselling supervisor, I believe in creating a safe space where difficult client issues can be explored in a collaborative way, leading to creative and more informed work with your clients. Good supervision can be a very enriching experience.
Fees - £50 per hour payable at the session, or by bank transfer if we are using Zoom. We can negotiate a lower amount if you are a student. As is normal practice, the fee is still payable if you cancel within 24 hours of the session.
I will complete any documents needed for course requirements if you are a student. You may contact me between sessions if you have an ethical dilemma that needs dealing with urgently. It is your responsibility to ensure that you receive adequate supervision (1.5 hours a month is the minimum requirement).
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
