Supervisor Ryan Vigor-Justin MBACP Clarity Wellbeing Clinic
Supervision should be as individual as you and your clients are.
I offer supervision from an integrative viewpoint. I work with CBT, Person-centred therapy, solution focused therapy, NLP and motivational interviewing skills in my client work. I draw on these skills in supervision too.
What is supervision?
Supervision, for me, is very much a multi-dimensional forum. Firstly, it’s a great place for you to bring any concerns or worries that you may have about the work you do with your clients. Here you can feel supported. Secondly, it’s a place where you can explore all aspects of your work, with insight, genuine curiosity and it offers clarity to benefit you and your clients. Thirdly, an integrative approach to supervision, offers you the opportunity to learn from an experienced outside observer.
As well as this, supervision is tailored individually to each therapist. It offers whatever you need, whether that be support, constructive feedback/input, an educational input or insights and everything in between. The relationship we have with our supervisor can be like the one we hold with our clients - it usually develops with time. The supervision relationship with a trainee therapist can be pretty different (at times) to that required by a more experienced therapist. So it can be quite fluid.
In supervision you can expect similar boundaries to exist, as with personal or group psychotherapy. Things like session time, fees and cancellations policy are the same, as is confidentiality (on my part), as well as the ethical and professional code of conduct.
