Supervision details
Following 15 years experience working in the criminal justice, mental health, addiction recovery and counselling fields as well as offering Counselling CPD workshops and more recently teaching Counselling at an FE college, I am now offering supervision. My approach is rooted in the humanistic, person-centred and experiential tradition and as such focuses first and foremost on building a therapeutic supervisory relationship with you that is warm, encouraging, accepting, understanding and real. My priority is to create a safe space so that you feel free to honestly and openly explore your experience of working with clients, including any struggles, without fear of judgement or reprimand. I am on your side as well as being here to ensure your clients get the very best from you. I hope that relationship will be collaborative. I am far from the stereotypical person-centred nodding dog, preferring an active, engaged approach. I offer myself as a sounding board, a guide if you need it - someone to brainstorm and explore possibilities. I can listen to your recordings, role-play with you if it helps or simply talk through your experience in a supportive and therapeutic environment. I am not afraid to challenge you or offer you feedback, knowing that our supervisory relationship will be most beneficial if it is real and honest.
