I have been providing clinical supervision to trainee and qualified mental health professionals in my various roles in the statutory and third sectors since 2006. The main approaches I use in my clinical practice are systemic, relational, trauma-informed and CBT, and I have a particular expertise in working with adult mental health, risk, multiple needs, complex trauma, gender-specific issues and relationships.
As a supervisor, I place emphasis on supporting supervisees to develop sound clinical reasoning and skills, as well as to improve confidence and clarity in decision making and managing challenges in the therapeutic process. My supervision style is based on creating a reflective space, where there is room to consider different perspectives, and clarify interventions choices. Equally important, I see supervision as a place where therapists can share and reflect on their thoughts and feelings for work related situations and issues. I have a particular interest in therapists’ development of their own self-care awareness and strategies.
