I offer supervision to counsellors and helping profession sector workers who want to explore their experience and understanding of their work. Supervision plays a valuable role in supporting us as counsellors and I understand the value it can offer to help support and encourage us to develop within a safe and held environment. Everyone needs space to offload, process and recharge with someone they feel comfortable.

Supervision for me is best described as being 'a joint endeavour in which a practitioner with the help of a supervisor, attends to their clients, to themselves as part of their client practitioner relationships and the wider systemic context, and by so doing improves the quality of their work, transforms their client relationships, continuously develops themselves, their practice and the wider profession.' (Hawkins and Shohet, 2012). For me this is a wordy way of saying that supervision covers all aspects of our work from the wider context to individual relationships we have with our clients and helps us to work more effectively and safely.

The idea of Supervision as a joint endeavour feels fundamental to me and important to help us to develop trust in ourselves as counsellors. My aim is to encourage my supervisees to value their own knowledge and abilities whilst supporting them to learn how to resolve difficulties they may be experiencing. I have a varied experience (it comes with living a colourful life!) working in a busy private practice, for different agencies, with young people, with fertility and disablity, within a specialist womens agency, as well as working as a counselling trainer for a long time. I understand the demands this work can bring and will bring my own experience and understanding to my supervisory practice on an informal basis. I am very much led by you and what you need, and will only bring this in if you feel it would be beneficial for you.

I currently charge £50 per hour, how ever I do also have a few low cost supervision slots available so get in touch to discuss what your needs are. I am led by what you need and am happy to meet monthly for 1.5 hours (£75) or fortnightly for 1 hour sessions (£50). I trust that together we can work out what fits your client load, you and your needs best so am flexible with arranging how often works best for you.

Trusting a supervisor and building a strong and encouraging relationship where you feel safe to share, explore, discuss and be yourself is so important. We can begin to get to know each other through a phone call or email chat where you can decide whether you would like to meet and move forward together. You need to feel comfortable and at the centre of the work, so please feel free to ring and ask any questions you may have.
