I have a Diploma in Counselling Supervision and have worked as a supervisor for 15 years. I am particularly experienced at working with counsellors, psychotherapists and trainees within organisations, supervising counsellors in voluntary sector placements, Higher Education and services working within NHS guidelines. My supervision approachSupervision with me is supportive, empowering and a creative space for counsellors and psychotherapists to extend their practice, challenge their thinking and explore new approaches. As an integrative psychotherapist and supervisor I can support therapists in a range of modalities including integrative, person-centred, psychodynamic and transpersonal. Much of my experience in working with dissociation and trauma has been with vulnerable women with histories of sexual and early abuse. I can support you as a practitioner to work with vulnerable clients, including people with a history of diagnosed mental health problems who may have been in touch with mental health services. Having worked within the NHS I have an understanding of NHS systems and I can help with you with issues around safeguarding. My wide experience brings an awareness of the tensions within working for organisations as well as in private practice, whether in short term focused or longer term exploratory therapeutic work. Teaching and learning I have a particular interest in teaching core skills of counselling and experience in group teaching both in the UK and with groups of non-English speakers abroad. My interest in theory and academic work can help counsellors to reflect on theory and explore other theoretical approaches. I have supported many students with dissertations and theses and have experience of working with students from several counsellor training organisations. Consultancy and support with organisationsHaving spent many years managing counselling teams in the NHS, voluntary sector and Higher Education I understand the complex task of balancing therapeutic work and organisational demands. I have experience of working with quality frameworks and NHS systems and particularly of managing services which see very vulnerable people within a short term model. My wide experience brings an awareness of the tensions within working for organisations as well as in private practice, whether in short term focused or longer term exploratory therapeutic work. My work within the voluntary sector also includes experience of supporting care and support staff who are not trained counsellors to provide wellbeing services. This group of staff is often in need of a flexible model of supervision and support. Do contact me for an initial discussion if you might be interested in supervision with me.
