Supervision
Can you discuss ANYTHING with your supervisor? If not, why not? I offer affordable support to fellow professionals as a Clinical counselling Supervisor. I see us as sharing, be it a joy or a burden. Gentle curiosity is how I describe my approach! Prioritising working in a safe, motivational and encouraging way, together we will regularly revisit relevant ethical guidelines and explore values. The job we do is a responsible and often tough one, so it's important we establish within our supervision, a sound, supportive relationship which is genuinely non-judgemental.  But, there's always room for some humour too, to help lighten the load! I consider supervision should encompass both professional and personal aspects (see *Self Care). Relationship is all. Reflective practice is also a key tool in achieving balanced and rewarding supervision which also serves to keep our clients safe. A warm welcome awaits fellow professionals who might like to try a supervision session with me.

I also currently provide supervision to NHS staff one-to-one and group settings. I enjoy both environments. I attend my own supervision twice fortnightly and in peer environments 4-6 weekly to ensure my own practice is constantly reviewed.

*SELF CARE: Something we as therapists tend to forget is our own wellbeing. The special and specific nature of the work we do means we must pay attention to our own emotional, psychological and physical welfare. Whilst ensuring our clients are cared for to the nth degree, we often overlook this area! Our levels of resilience can be sorely tested due to the intensity of the work we do, so I see this as a major consideration in supervision and will help you to keep an eye on your own wellbeing too.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
