  • >Supervisor Frances Basset (MA) MBACP (Senior Accred)

Having trained in Integrative approaches in 2011, I offer supervision for established counsellors and therapists. I also supervise and support students in training. I believe supervision should be a working partnership, where therapists can discuss not only their day-to-day client work, but also their professional and academic development, in a safe and restorative environment. In addition to ten years experience as a supervisor, I ran therapeutic and action learning groups during my role as senior lecturer at the University of Brighton for many years prior to this.

As part of my commitment to CPD, I completed the Diploma in Individual and Group Supervision in June 2017. This year long Diploma course was awarded by Cascade Associates.

I particularly offer support and guidance for therapists and counsellors applying for accreditation with the BACP. Having fifteen years experience within higher education, I can offer sound support during this process. Applying for accreditation can be daunting if you struggle with academic language. My academic background enables me to particularly help with developing the links between theory and practice which can sometimes be difficult to articulate on paper. In addition, I am currently studying for a Doctorate in Professional Studies in Psychotherapy so I keep up to date, academically.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
