Supervision details
I have been offering clinical supervision for many years to trainees at all levels, as well as qualified psychologists, in NHS, private, and other sectors. My supervisory style is strongly strengths based and supportive, while offering structure. I like to balance an emphasis on interpersonal process (and encourage all of my supervisees to be honest about their personal process with clients) and skill building. I offer a highly reflective space where qualified psychologists and therapists see me more as a consultant than as someone who has all the answers. I am warm, empathic, and down to earth, and previous supervisees have appreciated the safe space in which to be vulnerable, honest, and reflect on their practice, while also being able to learn new skills. I am able to offer supervision in most areas for those who are working as generalists, as well as in my speciality areas of anxiety disorders, culturally inclusive therapy, and long term physical health conditions. The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
