The Self

In the hustle and bustle of life, a person can get lost easily within all of this. Being busy and stressed can bring changes to a person. The same occurs with major events that happen in our lives which leave a significant impact on a person for which they find a way to deal with or push it back in their minds so they can no longer remember it consciously.

Learning more about yourself by exploring the very depths of your own being can allow you to develop an awareness and understanding of how you ‘work’. This can lead to you learning ways to cope when certain situations arise or you are faced with difficult times. Being your own best friend can help you reflect on how things have passed by in the day, at a certain time of your life and so on. It enables you to understand when you need a break, when you need time to reflect on your goals, when you need to clear things up in your mind.

Knowing who you are and how you deal with issues and problems that are presented to you on a daily basis enables you to develop resources that you can call upon to deal with them. You can create your own mechanisms to cope with whatever life throws at you. Sometimes some issues or problems are easier to resolve than others and with those others you have to travel a tougher path and deal with the tough stuff.

It may feel like darkness has hit you or you are trying to go forward but are carrying heavy chains which are preventing you from moving forward instead you feel stuck and held back. When you realise what the darkness or chains signifies you are then able to look at igniting the light in the darkness or find the key to unlock those chains that are bound on you. The feeling that comes when you achieve this is immeasurable you feel like you have reached the top of a mountain. In some ways, you have. You have taken another step forward in discovering more about yourself and gaining an insight on who you are really are.

With this, I leave you with two quotes, the first is taken from Eileen Caddy who was a co-founder of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland:

The secret of making something work in your lives is first of all, the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and belief that it can work; then to hold the clear definite vision in your consciousness and see it working out step by step, without one thought of doubt or disbelief.

The second is from Norman Vincent Peale; an American writer who says:

Believe you can and you can. Belief is one of the most powerful of all problem dissolvers. When you believe that a difficulty can be overcome you are more than halfway to victory over it already.
