About me

Hello, my name is Gemma Mason. I am a psychotherapist, supervisor, psychological trainer and group facilitator. It is my aim to work with you through the changes you want to make in your life. Then you can live a fulfilled life rather than holding onto whatever has happened in your past.

People enter therapy for all sorts of reasons; they may have encountered a life crisis or want to make positive changes. They may wish to work short term or on a longer, more in-depth presenting issue.

It is my aim to help facilitate this process; to enable you to identify your strengths and celebrate your successes. You are in control of what you talk about.

It is my experience that within all of us are the answers we search for and the ability to change our lives for the better. I have worked with clients for the past twenty five years and I enjoy working with individuals and groups.

I am able to offer the following formats of counselling;

  • Face-to-Face – I work from my practice in Trowbridge. Our introductory session would enable us to see if we could work together. Fees would be discussed during this first session and concessions are available in some circumstances.

I am a qualified psychotherapist and registered with UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have regular supervision to ensure that my work is both ethical and effective.

I am also able to offer supervision for therapists, and professionals who work in health services and organisations.

About Me

Prior to practising as a therapist, I worked as an occupational therapist within the National Health Service. I specialised in working with mental health issues.

As a therapist, I describe my approach as being integrative, drawing on a range of approaches, including Transactional Analysis, Psychoanalysis and Relational theories of counselling and psychotherapy.

Although I work with a variety of presenting issues, I have a special interest in working with the following; living with a (dis) ability, emotional relationships with over and under-eating and working with trauma using EMDR and Brainspotting.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
