About me

I am an experienced and accomplished counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor. I have been in practice for 25 years as an individual and group therapist in private hospital and private practice settings.  I have specific experience working effectively in mental health with such issues as anxiety, health anxiety, post natal depression and addiction.  I practice privately from a comfortable professional setting in Harley Street, Central London.

I work as an integrative therapist who offers empathy and compassion in a non-judgemental environment.  I am influenced by Humanistic approaches to counselling such as person-centred, T.A and Gestalt. I have additional training to work specifically with Ego-states, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and training to work with OCD using CBT. I am also a qualified clinician of Logotherapy.

I am familiar with the 12-steps when working with addiction(s). I believe (and evidence suggests) that the working relationship between the therapist and the client determines how effective and successful the therapy becomes.

I provide counselling for anxiety, work-related stress, stress, generalised anxiety disorder, health anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD, low self-confidence, low self-esteem, panic attacks, panic disorder, bullying, bereavement, anger, couples counselling, relationship issues, jealousy, addiction(s), affairs and betrayals, generalised anxiety disorder, post-natal depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and alcoholism.

The first session explores what the work is and we agree on how we might work together.  Usually we agree when a review session takes place (usually after 4 sessions) which is an honest discussion about how the therapy is going, subsequently, we make an agreement for time-limited, open-ended or long-term therapy.

I also run coaching sessions which are longer and run to help specifically with life, anxiety and stress.

If I cannot help, I shall do my best to refer you to a trusted therapist within my own practice. If this is not possible, I’ll always try and offer an outside recommendation.

Training, qualifications & experience

Additional experience: Running anxiety groups for Virgin Atlantic's Flying without Fear, receive referrals from BLISS (Premature Baby Charity), have set up voluntary counselling service for sufferers (and family members/carers of) of Chronic Illness.

I have previous been a lecturer CPCAB counselling courses at levels 3, 4 & 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, with the person-centred approach as its' core model for several years.  I have also taught L6 Diploma in Supervision (for counsellors, psychotherapists and allied professionals).

I have been a reviser of AQA exam papers and was a developer and reviewer of counselling papers with AIM Awards both at levels 2 through to level 6; and have contributed test questions to the BACP Certificate of Proficiency.

I hold a Diploma in Supervision and have 15 years experience working with Supervisees of varying modalities and experience levels i.e trainee counsellors, established therapists, supervisors, and Psychiatrists that use therapeutic interventions.

Currently, I provide Consultant Supervision to several sign language interpreters - although not a signer myself, I supervise them on how they supervise. I also provide supervision to psychiatrists who use counselling skills in their work or specific therapeutic interventions.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
