About me

Are you unhappy with your relationship? Do you feel anxious or angry? Couple counselling can help you to explore the issues between you and put you back on track to happiness.  I am a Relate Registered counsellor and Registered BACP member with over 36 years experience and would be pleased to help. Do get in touch.

Individual and Couple counselling

Are you at a crossroad in your life or under stress?

I use a psychodynamic approach and apply several theories to promote healthy couple relationships and positive personal development.

I develop a therapeutic relationship with clients, in which they feel safe to explore the issues that are of concern, using various theories and interventions to help people achieve positive and lasting solutions.

During my 28 year working with Relate and in my private practice, I have helped hundreds of people to find solutions to long term problems, coping with urgent emotional issues and developing skills needed to successfully manage their lives.

Have you or your partner had an affair and one of you is feeling betrayed and anxious?  Whereas, affairs do indicate that there are problems in your relationship, this does not necessarily have to lead to the end of the relationship.  It may be a cry for help.  Let me help you discover what the real issues are and how to resolve them.

Divorce Counselling and mediation

Have you decided that your relationship is at an end and separation or divorce is the only option?  This can be a highly emotional and stressful period in one’s life.  I can help you achieve an amicable divorce by addressing the emotional issues and help you to agree on the practical matters

Now that legal aid is no longer available to help pay for the cost of divorcing, it is even more important to settle the differences between you and agree a way forward before seeing your lawyer.  This agreement will reduce the legal time needed thus reduce the legal fees.

Other information

Are you feeling depressed from a recent bereavement or suffering from other losses?  I can help you explore, resolve and accept these feelings so that you can move forward with your life

Emotional problems cause much distress. Explore with me your issues of concern in a confidential setting and let me help you develop effective solutions.

Why leave the problem until it gets worse?

My practice is in Pirton and I serve people in Hitchin, Letchworth, Stevenage, Luton and surrounding areas in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

Herts/Beds CPD – Training for Counsellors – 6 hours CPD Certificate

If your are a counsellor and are looking for ways to sharpen your skills and increasing your knowledge I run a series of workshops on various topics.  Last year, I hosted a workshop on Understanding Anger and three modules on Couple Counselling which were are greatly appreciated.  These were presented by qualified trainers John Dixon and Michael Stock.  This year I am offering a 5-day In-depth Couple Counselling Course.  This will be presented in a modular form so that any sessions which are missed can be taken later.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
