About me

Experienced and established Person Centred Individual and Couples Counsellor offering online appointments on Zoom or Skype.

As well as my initial core training and qualification in Person Centred Counselling (2000) I am additionally qualified in Sex and Relationship therapy, and I have an interest and substantial training in working with those who want to discuss the impact of Boarding School on their life in the present.

I have been working with individuals since 1996 and with couples since 2011. I am committed to helping people tap back into their own resources in order to solve problems and make changes. Perhaps you are feeling flat, low, worried, stressed or desperate. Maybe you are having difficulty in a relationship, or with your work, or perhaps you are unhappy about the quality or direction of your life.

You are free to discuss anything with me that concerns or worries you, whether it is an individual issue, relationship issue or family issue; whether your concern is depression, generalised anxiety, panic attacks, stress, or a work related issue; anger or anger management, bereavement, separation and divorce, trauma, childhood related issues and boarding school issues, addiction, sexuality or sexual identity, or perhaps you have an interest in personal development.

I work with individuals and couples on a long or short term basis. I support couples via couple counselling at any stage of their relationship to improve communication, negotiation and compromise, to develop intimacy, throughout separation and divorce, recovery from affairs and betrayals, sexual differences and difficulties. I work with couples to understand and resolve the impact of  bereavement, trauma, childhood related issues, addiction, depression, work related stress, infertility, family related issues and cultural differences. I see couples of every sexual and gender orientation.

I have worked since 1996 primarily in independent practice, as well as having had some experience within the NHS and voluntary sector (bereavement, alcohol, and with survivors of sexual abuse and their families).

I offer clinical supervision to experienced and trainee counsellors on an individual basis and within group settings.

I offer a respectful, sensitive, honest and empathic approach.

Do please feel free to call me on 07732607818 if you have any questions or for an brief exploratory chat. If I do not pick up, leave a message with your name and a contact number. Let me know when its NOT ok to call back. Or email me on diane@citypsychotherapy.london or via the site.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
