About me

It can take a great deal of courage and strength to ask for professional help when emotional difficulties are interfering with your life.  However, having counselling at the right time with the right therapist will be a decision you will not regret. I aim to give you a safe place where you can feel comfortable to explore your difficulties without being judged.

I have worked as a Counselling Psychologist for 25 years and have seen the long lasting benefits it brings to people helping them overcome adverse life events, loss, disabling anxiety and depression.  Counselling will help you to develop self awareness, overcome unwanted self defeating behaviours and repeated relationship patterns to enable you to live a more fulfilling life. I also  offer cognitive -behaviour therapy and compassion focussed therapy which are models of therapy to help you overcome disabling anxiety, trauma and depression.

I am registered with the Health Care Professional Council as a Counselling Psychologist.  Counselling Psychology is rooted in psychological research to ensure that the most  appropriate counselling models are tailored to you and your individual presenting issues. This approach will enable you to get the most benefit from your therapy.

I am also an Accredited Registered Member of the BACP.

I have worked as a Counselling Tutor in the past  and currently offer supervision to student Counsellors and trained Counsellors/Psychologists.

Do also check out my website - www.thelinkpractice.co.uk where you will be able to read more information about myself and the services offered.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
