About me

Online Therapist ,  Supervisor  , Walk and Talk Therapy , In person Therapy /Face to Face

Availability for supervisees

I work with adults aged 19yrs and over .
I hold insurance with Towergate for my counselling and supervisory work . I am accredited with BACP and Professionally accredited with the NCPS. I have a current DBS check

There are times when life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. We can feel angry, upset, low in confidence, fragile and have low self esteem. I am an empathic, qualified counsellor. I really enjoy working with my clients and look forward to enabling  them to work through the many things that may be worrying them or upsetting them so that they feel in a much better place to face life and what life brings. I have worked previously as a trained  nurse and I  find that this helps me to work with and empathise with many issues that clients bring including health issues and bereavement.   I would love to have the opportunity to work with you. I work with adults .

I  specialise in bereavement  which is found in many issues that clients  bring to counselling .

I have some availability for in person therapy also .

I work as a telephone and an online counsellor,  via webcam / voice only and telephone . I have completed additional training to do this as recommended by the BACP. Online counselling can be very convenient for some people so maybe you would like to try working with me on Zoom or on the telephone. Some people prefer this anyway due to anxiety or shyness.

Clients can fit their online appointment in with work , family or other commitments or just enjoy the convenience of not having to travel to see me.

I’m guessing that something is bothering you. That something is maybe what we can look at working with together so that you can move forward and feel better in yourself.

Sometimes life can just get on top of you, leaving you feeling anxious or depressed. Perhaps something in particular has caused you to feel like this, or perhaps you're not sure what the cause is. Maybe you have low self confidence or low self esteem, perhaps you are feeling angry for some reason. These are the sort of issues that I work with as well as many others. I also work in a warm and empathic way with all of my clients to work with what has triggered them to come to counselling. I feel strongly that this is important so that you can feel listened to and heard.

I have thirteen  years of experience of working with many issues as a counsellor.

Counselling with me can also be effective because of the benefits of having someone to talk to in confidence outside of a friendship group or away from those that know you. Please contact me by email if you would like to have some counselling. I offer an equal, non-judgemental service to all.

I do not provide an emergency service for those needing help in a crisis. It’s best to seek urgent help in this case so I will put the names of a few agencies that you could make contact with if you are in a crisis:

  • Your GP could refer you to an appropriate agency and offer you help.
  • 111 is a service that you could ring when you need advice or medical treatment quickly and you cannot wait to see your doctor.
  • If you need emergency medical treatment ring 999
  • The Samaritan's are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year whatever you're going through. Tel 116 123 call for free.

Please feel free to contact me. I have worked successfully with many adults that come to me with many issues including:

  • anxiety/panic attacks
  • bereavement both recent losses and those from the past, expected, unexpected and traumatic losses
  • any other loss and grief, including relationships, home , pets, children grown up and moving out etc.
  • depression
  • negative thoughts
  • bereavement
  • work related stress
  • anger
  • low self esteem
  • health related issues
  • those that are feeling sad
  • general counselling
  • relationship issues
  • separation
  • divorce
  • trauma

I can offer appointments between the hours of 8.30am to 6pm on a week day except for Fridays but I don't work on Bank Holidays or weekends.

Because I am working via telephone or Zoom I can work with clients anywhere in the UK so that may suit you as via Zoom or phone we could work together despite a long distance. No need to travel to a counselling room.

I also offer supervision for student counsellors and for qualified counsellors

Experience

There are various reasons for clients seeking therapy and some of the following are what bring clients to my counselling practice and what I have experience in working with.

  • anger
  • low mood
  • anxiety
  • relationship issues
  • work related stress
  • bereavement
  • low self esteem
  • feeling sad
  • health issues
  • family issues
  • low self esteem
  • low self confidence
  • stress
  • loneliness
  • trauma
  • panic attacks
  • bereavement

Some just come for sessions to work out what is causing them  to feel as they feel and then we can work through that.

With five years of experience in volunteering for Cruse which is a national bereavement agency , working with the bereaved I have developed a particular interest in working with bereavement . Indeed I  studied the subject of  death and dying within my Health and Social Care Degree.  I have also chaired a local branch of a Cruse Bereavement Care for one year.

Having  worked as a volunteer on the telephone helpline for a national  emotional crisis help line,  I feel that I can work empathically  with those that are feeling very low  depressed or suicidal.

As I hold a degree in health and social care and because I have worked as a trained nurse in a hospital and in nursing homes I have therefore  gained an insight into the types of health and family issues that might  bring clients to my counselling practice. This includes:

  • The care of the ill and terminally ill patient  and the impact that this has on both them and  their families
  • Families that are facing a bereavement and those that have been bereaved
  • Those facing planned and emergency surgery
  • Those with acute medical conditions
  • Those with physical disabilities and their families / carers
  • Those that are ageing and their families

I work for clients that approach me on an individual private basis and I also work for agencies and employers that offer counselling for employees,  I have been in private practice for 13years so I am an experienced counsellor.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
