About me

I have been working as a psychotherapist for over 15 years and am also a qualified EMDR practitioner and creative arts therapist (mainly using clay).  I work both online and in person, with both adults and children.  I specialise in helping those experiencing loss and bereavement,  states of anxiety, relational difficulties and experiences linked to trauma. I offer both individual and small group sessions (2-4 people). In the small group sessions I use the creative powers of clay to help access, work through and heal difficulties in a grounded and surprisingly rapid way.  The small group sessions using clay therapy, enables access to a deeply healing, grounding and creative form of therapy at a lower cost (£30 per session).

I have worked as a psychotherapist within GP surgeries, school settings, the NHS and privately. I provide both short and long term counselling/psychotherapy support. I work integratively, using a variety of techniques in order to help people gain an understanding of and an ability to move on from their difficulties.  In my work with individuals I will integrate EMDR and embodied (sensorimotor and energetic) practices to help manage difficult experiences including states of experiencing linked to stress and PTSD.  I also use my training in creative art therapies and clay therapy to help you work through difficulties.

I offer in person, zoom/skype, or telephone sessions. My small group session fee is £30 per session and individual sessions range between £60-£80 per session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a professional doctorate in psychotherapy. I have also a degree in Psychology, (which grants me the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society). Having completed an MSc and then an MClinSci in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy which I gained through the University of Kent at Canterbury,  I then deepened my understanding of trauma by undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Psychotherapy.  I am accredited and registered with the UKCP, am a member of the Council for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists and Jungian Analysts. I am a member of the Canterbury Consortium of Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists. I am also a member of the BPS and the BACP. I am a qualified EMDR practitioner, accredited with EMDR Europe.

I Work using methods adapted to each individual, merging talking therapy with EMDR, embodied practices and energy work when helpful.

Further information

Psychotherapy and counselling help us to explore our feelings and the different facets of our life's experiences. With the help of a therapist you can be enabled to look at aspects of your life and/or your relationships which are causing difficulties for you currently. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy proposes that our feelings about ourselves and others develop through our experience of the relationships we have with important others in our lives. These feelings and experiences we have as children will have a consequent effect on the way we feel about ourselves and the ways we understand and try to manage our relationships with others.

Psychotherapeutic exploration will allow you to gain a meaningful understanding of any symptoms (anxiety, depression, anger, shyness etc..) you may be experiencing. It is this understanding which allows you to let go of restrictive patterns of feeling and behaving, to reclaim your true self and your ability to lead a more empowered, creative and spontaneous way of living.
