About me

I offer one to one, individual counselling and psychotherapy to adults and young people covering a wide range of issues. My theoretical approach is Gestalt, which is an integrative and creative approach focussing on awareness and how we relate to the world. Gestalt aims to help move away from unhelpful thinking, feeling and behaving towards living a more fulfilling life.

My Approach

The aim of therapy is to provide an opportunity for you to work towards living in a way that is more satisfying and resourceful to you.

Psychoherapy is for anyone who would like to live a more satisfying and resourceful life. Maybe you are feeling depressed, confused or worried. Or maybe you want to learn more about yourself, have a big decision to make, are struggling with unexpected events or recent life changes, or simply want someone non-judgemental to talk with. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, helping you to make the right decisions. I offer you the opportunity to explore different ways of looking at your life to support you in discovering more effective ways of living.

Gestalt therapy is an integrative therapy and focuses on awareness of self and your relationship to the world. We can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour that render our lives unfulfilling. Gestalt therapy helps to raise awareness of our patterns of relating and connectedness, helping us make choices for a more fulfilling life.

I offer you the opportunity to explore your existing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving in a confidential, safe and supportive environment, working on your concerns at your own pace and enabling you to find your own way forward.

I provide short and long term therapy and personal development work. Each session lasts 50 minutes and the first session is generally an opportunity for us to decide whether or not we feel able to work together. It is important that you choose the right counsellor for you.

I addition I have specialist training and experience in the areas of bereavement and loss,  and working with young people.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
