About me

I offer confidential counselling and psychotherapy to individuals in Stirling and elsewhere. My approach is broadly integrative, and I try to tailor it to the needs of each client. There is a lot of information on my website, not just about me and the way I work, but also about the sort of problems that are brought to me and the range of resources available locally. I do not work with the large insurance companies, but do accept clients funded by charity programmes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been seeing clients since 2000 and have been UKCP registered since 2004.

I have a postgraduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy. I am a fully-qualified clinical supervisor, and have a training as a Relate counsellor for couple work.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Coming to counselling can be daunting, especially for the first time, and I do what I can to make things a bit easier. Most people start by having a preliminary chat on the phone or by e-mail, but you don't have to give much detail unless you want to. I see it as part of my job to answer questions and help you in your search for the right practitioner. If I don't have space or don't think I would be the right person to work with you, I will say so and suggest other names or ideas.
