About me

I am a qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapist who has worked in private practice for forty years. I also offer supervision to psychotherapists and counsellors.

My practice is based in Southgate, North London, and I am also experienced in working online with people outside of London or the UK.

Please note that I am currently not taking on new patients, but I am available to offer supervision.

Psychotherapy and counselling can be helpful for many emotional or psychological difficulties. These can include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship problems. As well as helping with difficulties, therapy also offers an opportunity for personal development and growth.

The work consists of a series of regular, confidential sessions in which all of these issues can be talked through. Sometimes the focus is upon current difficulties; at other times we look at the effects that past problems have upon the present. For more details about how I work, please see my website.

I am a clinical supervisor to other psychotherapists and counsellors. I have provided supervision individually and in groups, both privately and within organisations, for over 30 years. I currently teach psychoanalytic theory and practice within three different organisations, and run a UKCP-recognised training in parent-infant psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 1982. I trained in adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the London Centre for Psychotherapy, graduating in 1991.

I have taught and supervised psychotherapists and counsellors for 30 years. Agencies for which I have taught and supervised include Nafsiyat, the Refugee Therapy Centre, the Counselling Foundation and the Enfield Counselling Service.

I am currently the Director of the School of Infant Mental Health. For the School I manage and teach on a UKCP-accredited training in Parent Infant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
