About me

We all experience emotional times in our lives and sometimes it is good to have someone to help you sort through some of the difficulties which can occur.  Counselling is one way to do this with the support of someone who is not going to judge you and is going to see the situation from your perspective and support you to change things.  If your emotional well being is important to you and you want to make some changes in your life, then counselling can be a way to do this.

My specialist areas are working with recent and historic rape and sexual violence and also young people.

I am experienced working with depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement, low self esteem and abuse issues.  I also work with children and young people who are experiencing a range of issues.

I am a qualified, accredited counsellor and clinical supervisor and I practice from a Humanistic/Ecclectic approach, which allows me to put the client at the centre of the counselling process, working with you to help you put your emotional well being first.

I provide supervision for those working in the helping professions; including counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as social workers and support workers.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

As part of Midland Therapy Group we are making counselling more accessible by offering reduced rate counselling with fully supervised trainee counsellors.  Please feel free to contact for more information or have a look at the website.  We are also taking applications from trainee counsellors looking for face to face placements.

Counselling is a confidential relationship between you and the counsellor in a safe environment. Working with a counsellor can allow you to explore your feelings and give you the tools you will need to understand any difficulties you are experiencing.

I am here to listen and support you, and help you to express your feelings in a healthy and safe setting. I am not here to give advice, give you answers to your problem or tell you what to do. I am here to help you to find your own answers by providing you with a non-judgemental, healthy insight into where you are and where you want to be.

I work from a location close to the town centre which has free parking, it is close to the bus station and a 10 minute walk from the train station.
