About me
Based at the Bay Tree Therapy Centre, in the heart of Christchurch since 2006, I have been helping people explore and tackle life difficulties, such as work stress, bereavement, family problems, depression and anxiety, or just feeling stuck.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic therapist. I have a Master's degree in Psychodynamic Counselling from WPF Therapy in London. I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a qualified counselling Supervisor. I am also a qualified online counsellor. I have worked as a counsellor, a trainer of counsellors, a counselling supervisor and clinical lead for over twenty five years, in crisis services, bereavement counselling and counselling agencies. I have had a counselling practice at the Bay Tree Therapy Centre since 2006, and am an EAP counsellor registered with Axa PPP.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information
When you contact me, I arrange an introductory session for us to meet and talk about your situation. You can ask me anything you like about the counselling, and take some time to consider whether to go ahead with more sessions. This first session lasts for about an hour, and costs £30. If you decide to go ahead, you can have as many or as few sessions as you like, and you are free to end the counselling when you choose. If you prefer, we can also arrange to meet for a fixed number of sessions, to work on a specific issue. The cost of ongoing counselling is £60 per session. Payment is by bank transfer, monthly or weekly: we can discuss all of these practical arrangements when we meet. As we go along, you can discuss with me any changes you would like to make, as this is your therapy.

Further information
When I am not counselling I love being outdoors. If you also like to be out, and if a counselling room appointment sounds a bit daunting, you can meet with me for a walk-and talk appointment at Hengistbury Head. These sessions also last for an hour, and take place on Thursday and Friday mornings. You are welcome to get in touch if you are interested.
