Further information

Many people experience psychological distress during their lives. Sometimes this due to a difficult or traumatic childhood, trauma in later life or the difficulties and pressures of everyday living. These can cause anxiety, depression, loss of motivation and difficulties in relationships.
These states of mind can be helped in various ways.

One of the main ways is to help a client examine their everyday life and personal interactions, and how they are affected by the inner (often unconscious) assumptions and responses which can interfere with the good running of their daily life. Understanding what is going on in oneself is a big step toward recovery from what is causing the problems and helps one to overcome them.

In any form of counselling or psychotherapy it is important to look sympathetically at the story of a person's life, how their assumptions have arisen and how they affect their relationship with their sexuality, partners, work and leisure.
