About me

Please note I am on leave from Friday 12th to Monday 22nd April 2024. Please email me via this website and I will contact you as soon as I can upon my return.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello and thank you for considering me or one of my colleagues at East Surrey Counselling Group as counsellor for either yourself or your child.

I am a BACP Senior Accredited counsellor, qualified since 2006, to degree level, to work with INDIVIDUALS FROM THE AGE OF 5 and am the founding counsellor of East Surrey Counselling Group, a group of counsellors working across 2 counselling rooms in Godstone, Surrey.

Our consulting rooms are in the lovely village of Godstone, Surrey and are close to Oxted, Redhill, Reigate, Caterham and Woldingham and two minutes by car from the M25 Junction 6.  We work with clients of all ages and cover every day of the week, recently including Sunday morning sessions.

I have experience of working for different agencies and as a school counsellor, which have all added to my knowledge and understanding and I work to suit each individual person and can offer you empathy, understanding and a weekly commitment to work hard with you or your child to help you or them overcome difficulties and stumbling blocks towards a better future. I also run a training organisation for fellow counsellors so my CPD commitment is always up to date.

Please contact me with any queries or questions or to arrange an initial appointment in which we will explore your difficulties and see if we feel we can work well together. This initial appointment costs £60 but I allow 1.5 hrs instead of the normal 60 minute weekly session time so that we have plenty of time for exploration and getting to know each other a little. I work with clients Tuesday to Friday.

My weekly session fees is £60, with some concessions available. Concessions are agreed between us depending on your circumstances when we meet for our first session.

As the lead counsellor for East Surrey Counselling Group if, when you contact me, my practice is full, I can refer you to my colleagues Lorraine Sheppard, Sally Ward and Gosia Pawlowska (who work with those aged 11 and over and adults) or Janine Webb, Rachael King, Jeanne Hyslop and Liz Seale (who all work with children from aged 5, adolescents and adults), Yvonne Robinson (who works with young people from age 13 and adults) or Natasha Huggins-Woolcock (who works with those over 18)  who are also part of East Surrey Counselling Group. Yvonne specialises in working with those who have experienced sexual violence and Gosia can offer counselling in both English and Polish.  More information about all of us can be found on our website www.eastsurreycounsellinggroup.co.uk.

I look forward to hearing from you when you are ready.

Warmest wishes until then
Carol

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
