About me

Lost? Depressed? Sad? Lonely? Hopeless? Does it all feel too overwhelming and you want it to change? Change is what almost everyone wants, when they come to counselling...and change is what I help you to achieve, by helping you to access your own inherent ability to grow and develop, and to find your own answers to your problems which are locked within.

I provide Person-Centred therapy, which is gentle yet powerful and effective, because we look at trying to change perceptions...and when perceptions change, what was a big problem before is no longer the issue it once was. In therapy, we explore what you have been struggling with together, at your pace and covering the ground that you want to cover, in an environment which is safe, confidential and non-judgemental, until what was 'stuck' becomes 'unstuck'; what seemed 'lost' is 'found' and what seemed confusing, worrying and 'wrong' finds new meaning and understanding for you.

Why I became a counsellor
:
Like everyone, I have had my share of personal struggles. I know what it's like to feel such despair that I don't know where to turn to; I know the pain of deep loss; I remember how it is to feel so alone and hopeless, that it seemed like no-one could understand or help me. I also know how daunting it can feel to be sitting opposite a counsellor and telling them everything - and I remember how much of a failure I felt because I couldn't do it by myself.

However, it was one of the best things I did for myself. I know how much it helped, through changing my perceptions, and how it healed through helping me find the inner strength I always had, but which had been buried.

That is why I became a counsellor, so I can hopefully give to others what was given to me.

Who I provide counselling for: I provide counselling for individuals and couples. I am also qualified to provide online counselling via email or by MSN Messenger. I also provide hypnotherapy and regression therapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
