About me

WELCOME,
As a qualified, experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor I offer professional support and help to individuals wanting to enter into a counselling relationship.  I have been working with clients for almost 20 years.

My aim is to work in a kind, empathic, and sensitive way. I have a broad range of experience working with emotional difficulty. I work with people from all walks of life, all ages and at all life-stages. My particular interest is in working with anxiety, burnout, depression and those feeling stuck, confused and fearful. I have a particular interest in trauma and its resulting impact on the body.

I offer a confidential counselling service in Glastonbury, Somerset.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Who comes for counselling and why?

oakleaves.jpg

There are many different reasons that people see a counsellor or psychotherapist for help and support. Some of the reasons could be:

• Coping with strong feelings
• Confusing thoughts and worries
• Abuse
• Addictions
• Anxiety
• Bereavement
• Conflict
• Depression & Post Natal
• Divorce or Separation
• Phobias
• Stress
• Self-esteem
• Abuse (in all forms)
• Relationships
• Weight Issues - Eating Disorders

People are complex and come to counselling for as many reasons as one could imagine. In general, if someone is finding life hard to cope with, talking to a counsellor will be hugely beneficial.

Counselling can help you feel more supported, more in control and have more awareness of what shaped you.

People have counselling when they have experienced life changes, such as bereavement, job loss, change in circumstance, bullying, addictions, or are feeling strong emotions - loss, guilt, sadness, emptiness, fear. Counselling can help - talking and understanding can make things better.

Coming to a decision to get some support warrants congratulation in itself. To realise that you need some help with your feelings or thoughts requires insight and bravery. You may well have been thinking about seeing a counsellor for some time. Perhaps the time is now.

My aim  "To make counselling understandable, accessible and affordable."

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
