Working with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Suite 7, Abercromby Business Centre
Abercromby Street, Bridgeton
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) could be described as a very debilitating disorder. Every human being has a touch of OCD. For most people it is very minor; for example not opening umbrellas indoors, saluting crows, no shoes on tables, avoiding cracks in pavements, not walking under ladders, liking items to be straight and co-ordinated. These little quirks to the personality tend not to be too problematic. At the other side of the continuum however are those who describe being tortured by intrusive or obsessive thoughts or images and their lives being ruled by ritualistic behaviours put in place to reduce distress.
Aims of the event
- To present the diagnostic criteria related to OCD.
- To explore OCD and it’s predisposing, precipitating and perpetuating factors.
- To introduce or recap on cognitive and behavioural interventions.
- To work with each other to discuss personal or professional experiences of OCD and share treatment interventions.
