The event

Anxiety disorders are being diagnosed in children and teens at an unprecedented rate and we need to know how to help. Participants will leave the workshop with dozens of techniques to help children reduce anxiety. Creative interventions that help children articulate their worries, strategies that aid in relaxation and stress management, and strategies for including parents as partners in the process. We will learn tools for crafting and practicing "boss back" talk and for countering cognitive distortions. Playful tools for designing and tracking gradual exposures will also be covered. Specific creative therapy techniques will be augmented by detailed case examples that show how to apply this work specifically to children with OCD, separation anxiety, PTSD, specific phobia, selective mutism, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Video clips, slides of children’s completed therapeutic creations and experiential exercises will augment the learning. Come play with us!
