What age are you? Working with Russian Dolls
- “You are behaving like a three-year-old.”
- “You’re acting like a stroppy teenager!”
- “I’ve never seen you like this.”
Often, we know that we’re behaving inappropriately but can’t seem to help ourselves. Or we surprise others by our apparently out-of-character behaviour. There are many selves inside each one of us and it can be a revelation to know which part of us has taken centre stage in any situation.
Thirty-five years ago, I found a way of using Russian Dolls creatively in the therapeutic process. In this workshop, I will tell you how my approach came into being, how I developed it and how I’ve worked with the model since. Used in conjunction with ego state circles, the subject of a companion workshop, you will learn how to introduce them to the client, how to identify the age of each Doll, what each one “carries,” and their key statements of emotional state. This can lead to conversations between you and each Doll so that each one, at last, is heard.
It is advisable that you bring your own set of Russian Dolls to the workshop with you.
Who this workshop is aimed at This workshop is aimed at practising therapists and those working in schools or in mental health settings.
Why you should attend You will learn how to introduce the Dolls to clients, how to identify the age of each Doll, what each one “carries”, and the key statements of their emotional states. This can lead to conversations between you and each Doll so that each one is heard at last.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR - CHRISTINE MEEK
Christine trained forty years ago with Dr. Winifred Rushforth in dreamwork and with Dr. Diana Bates at Wellspring in a Jungian/Humanistic approach, extending her training for a further two terms of training in Wellness. Finding dreams an invaluable guide, she studied a further two years in a Jungian dream group. She continues to use dreamwork in her practice daily and to maintain her own wellness.
By chance, the therapeutic use of Russian Dolls emerged in her work with an American client and she developed an additional model over the next year or so.
Some further years into her practice she attended a summer school on Transactional Analysis and, from an experience there that changed her awareness, she developed Eric Berne’s model using colour association and a hula hoop!
These three tools, along with her humanistic training, form the cornerstone of Christine’s approach to working with every new person who comes into the room.
Handouts and CPD certificate are included in the price.
