Understanding developmental trauma
Developmental trauma is the term used to describe the impact of early, repeated trauma which occurs during the early stages of a child’s development between conception and pre-school years. Developmental trauma happens within the child’s key relationships and can include neglect, abuse and substance misuse by caregivers.
This workshop will explore the impact on a child’s physical, social, cognitive, relational and emotional development and the consequences this can have for adults who have experienced trauma in their early years.
Drawing on current research to identify common presenting issues for children and adults, we will explore ways of working to support healthy development, recovery and growth.
